Hi guys,
Am planning to migrate my free wordpress.com blog to self hosted. So i have certain questions regarding that, hope this forum will help me out.
I wish to use my own domain name, which is entirely different from the one i used in wordpress.com. So my query here is the wordpress.com url can be redirected to my new .com site? In that case if someone visits my old blog it will automatically redirect them to my new .com site?
Another query is that what will happen to the people who have followed my wordpress.com page and all the stats for that site? Will i lose all that or will they come over when i move the wordpress.com blog to my new blog?
Please help me out with my queries.
Thankyou
Here are the docs on redirecting or parking your free blog to point to self-hosted:

Jetpack
Set up a domain name, and test it all out. It’s pretty straight-forward.
